IE7 Spam: You don’t need this IE7 download 30. märts, 2007

On Thursday, I got several spam e-mails inviting me to download Internet Explorer 7. There was no visible text in the e-mail, just an image that touted Beta 2 of Microsoft’s latest Web browser.
Of course, IE7 has been out of beta since October, and Microsoft never pushes its updates this way.
Alex Eckelberry at Sunbelt Blog warns against clicking on the image, which contains a Trojan. He also shows you what you see when you view the source code (PDF) for the e-mail.
Know anyone who was
dumbunfortunate enough to click on this when it arrived? Since IE7 has been pushed out via Windows Update for a while now, I would think most folks who don’t have it are actively avoiding it, and thus wouldn’t fall for this lame attempt at social engineering.
